A black teenage girl by the name of Renisha McBride, was shot and murdered when she knocked on the door at a house in Detroit, Michigan to ask for help. Renisha, who was 19 years old, was shot dead on the porch of a house in Dearborn Heights, which is a white Suburban area in the city of Michigan. Reporters have claimed that she was killed because of her skin colour. There was a shotgun bullet wound to her face, but no other evidence or bruises anywhere else on her body. Renisha McBride's family and other Civil Rights groups have pursued prosecutors to press charges against the 54 year old man that shot Renisha, who's name was not named in the article. McBride's family claims that Renisha knocked on the man's door, who was a white man, after she got in a car accident. Her cell phone was out of power, so she wandered around looking for help. The man who shot her told the detectives that she thought the girl was an intruder trying to break into his house and he accidentally discharged his shotgun.
I think this man should be charged with murder immediately. I also think this was a hate crime. This was not the first time a black male/female has been shot by "accident" or because they thought they were intruding on their property.
